Requirement 3 of the Insect Study Merit Badge has us learning about and pointing out the main parts of an insect.

Three Main Parts of an Insect

Head

The head is specialized for sensory input and food intake.

Thorax

The thorax is the anchor point for the legs and wings (if present), and is specialized for locomotion.

Abdomen

The abdomen is used for digestion, respiration, excretion, and reproduction.
