William D. Boyce

In 1909, a Chicago publisher by the name of William D. Boyce was walking the foggy streets of London. An unknown scout came to William D. Boyce’s aid when he became lost due to the fog. The young man indicated to William D. Boyce that he was merely doing his duty as a Boy Scout and could not accept a tip. Being inspired by this young man, when he returned back to the United States, William D. Boyce formed the Boy Scouts of America which we still benefit from today.
